A Culinary Excursion to Piedmont, Italy | Wine Dinner
Just west of Milan is one of Italy’s crown jewels of wine production, Piedmont. Laying at the foot of the Alps, the region is known for producing a number of different wines but none more important than the wines produced from the Nebbiolo grape, famous for Barolo and Barbaresco wines.
Piedmont cuisine is rich and savory, matching the powerful Nebbiolo wines. The area is famous for its beef and the treasured Alba white truffle. Piedmont’s cuisine exemplifies the importance of slow food and superb ingredients. While the regional wines deserve much attention, the food is equally distinct and delicious.
