Chef Showdown

We have often described the delecTable experience as watching a cooking show where you get to eat the food. We’re taking that concept to the next level again, with another fun — and what’s sure to be delicious — cooking competition! If you missed our last Showdown, here’s your chance. Our Executive Chef Jake Lawler will take on his second competitor, Chef Drew Niedercorn, to see who can create the most outstanding food for you, with each course featuring a different vomFASS ingredient. You will judge each course based on presentation, taste, and how well the vomFASS ingredient was highlighted.

 

There will be four courses. Therefore, you’ll be served eight dishes to judge. Each chef will prepare their own dishes for each course, which will be kept secret to keep the other in the dark. As always, each chef will happily accommodate any dietary restrictions. And as always, each course will be paired with wine or spirits. The course structure and vomFASS product featured will be:

 

FIRST COURSE

APPETIZER

vomFASS Fig Chili Balsamic Vinegar

This delicate gourmet vinegar is made from concentrated fig juice and fig vinegar. Then it gets special pungency from the extract of selected chilies. Our very own sweet-sour creation, this balsamic is excellent for barbecues, marinades, and Asian cuisines. With its unique taste profile, we’re very interested to see what our chefs come up with!

 

SECOND COURSE

SALAD

vomFASS Lemon Extra Virgin Olive Oil

When life gives you lemons, boy are you lucky. We cold-press select olives and fresh, ripened lemons to produce this unique and aromatic oil. It’s a perfect combination with any of our fruit vinegars, adding that extra zing to salads and brightening up hearty grains such as quinoa.

 

THIRD COURSE

PROTEIN

FassZination Hazelnut Oil

This rich oil, made from 100% lightly toasted hazelnuts, has a delicious, slightly nutty taste. A modern miracle in the kitchen from a medieval master, Jean Marc Montegottero, it is an exquisite finish for pasta or vegetables. This oil gives our chefs lots of room to work while being a strong enough flavor to easily feature in their dish.

 

FOURTH COURSE

DESSERT

vomFASS Latte Macchiato Liqueur

Latte Macchiato is an aromatic, velvety smooth cream liqueur with the essence of mocha coffee. It’s thoroughly enchanting in desserts. It will be a treat to see what our chefs do with the deliciousness of this liqueur!

One seating, 7:00 p.m. – reservations required. $25 deposit per person.
